The Prevalence of Bronchial Asthma Among High School Pupils in Holon (Israel)

Three-thousand-and-fifty-one high school pupils aged between 14 and 18 years were examined in the Holon area (central Israel), during the years 1985–1989. Four-hundred-and-fifty-eight had previous recurrent episodes of wheezing (15.01±2.4 per cent). Two-hundred-and-seventy-five adolescents had suffered from bronchospasm crisis over the last 12 months (9±0.80 per cent) and were diagnosed as active asthmatics.
