Immunization in India: Contribution of Integrated Child Development Services Scheme to Expanded Programme of Immunization

A study was carried out to find out the impact of Integrated Child Development Services scheme delivering nutrition, health, and education services to preschool children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers on the expanded programme of immunization. The data presented in this paper shows the acceleration of EPI by about 100 per cent in 3–5-year-old ICDS projects and 125 per cent in 8-year-old ICDS projects. The ICDS model has proved successful inachieving the objectives of EPI and can be utilized to achieve the goals of universal immunization by 1990 inIndia.
