Evaluation of a Home Based Antenatal Card
Department of Community Health, Christian Medical College Vellore 632002
The home based antenatal card is an effective tool for enhancing antenatal attendance, detecting high risk cases and, in the long run, for improving pregnancy outcome. With more effective health education a fewer number of cards would be lost. Although in the detection of high risk pregnancies and in serving as guidelines for the illiterate worker the card has made an impact, much more still needs to be done. To ensure proper utilization of this card, its objectives and advantages need to be understood by all health personnel and close supervision and support of the health workers is necessary.
