The efficacy of oral glucose-electrolyte therapy was studied in 28 patients suffering from mild and moderate dehydration. All patients were successfully rehydrated with oral fluids with the exception of three who were later administered intravenous fluids because of deterioration in their condition. The aetiological agents identified included Enteropathogenic E. coli, Enterotoxigenic E. coli, Shigella sonnei, Giardia lamblia and E. Histolytica.
